MAROONED
by Michael Langston
We must embark on a voyage
From the land of our youth
For no one who’s there can stay.
We must leave that fair place
And our young lives so erase;
We’re sojourners there for a day.
So while you’re in that lush land,
Fall in love while you can
For I give you this warning in truth:
The isle of old age…
The journey’s sad, final stage
Is no place to be alone
And marooned.
