Today in North America it is estimated that more than 100 million people are diabetic or prediabetic, and each year nearly a million people die of heart disease, unnatural disease conditions that are caused in part by sugar. This is a health catastrophe.

Reducing refined sugar consumption is a step in the right direction, but ideally it should be reduced to zero, and other refined carbohydrates should be strictly controlled as well. Eating less refined sugar is good, but eliminating it entirely is better.

There are essential amino acids, essential fats, and essential micronutrients that must be present in the diet, but there’s no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. Excess sugar and starch from processed junk foods is a major factor in causing disease.

There is a link between disturbances in the gut bacteria and autism. These imbalances can be brought about by the excessive use of antibiotics. The link between childhood vaccines and autism should not be ignored, however, and should be investigated also.

In the 1960s only two percent of people over 85 had Alzheimer’s. Now it is over fifty percent in Western countries. What could be causing this frightening new epidemic of Alzheimer’s in the elderly, which closely parallels the alarming epidemic of autism?
